Trading Indian, forex and crypto markets since 2021 and teaching price action and demand-supply to retail traders in West Delhi and online.

Last month a young guy messaged me on Instagram. He had paid ₹35,000 to a forex trading institute that promised “90% accurate signals”. Three months later his trading account was down 60% and the institute had stopped picking up his calls. He wasn’t asking me for a refund or a course. He just wanted to know how he missed the warning signs.

I get some version of this message almost every week. So instead of another “top 10 institutes” list, which anyone can fake, here is the checklist I would give a friend who asks me, “bhai, ye institute join karu ya nahi?” It works for any forex trading institute in India, including ours.

What a Forex Trading Institute Should Actually Teach

Table of Contents

What a Forex Trading Institute Should Actually Teach

Step 1: Check the Mentor Before the Brochure

Step 2: Make Sure the Trading Is Legal in India

Step 3: Ask for the Full Syllabus and Batch Plan

Step 4: Understand the Fees and Refund Policy

Step 5: Attend a Demo Class Before Paying

Step 6: Talk to Past Students Outside the Website

Step 7: Score the Institute Before You Decide

Red Flags That Mean Walk Away

Online or Offline: Does It Change the Checklist?

What Happens After You Join the Right Institute

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose a good forex trading institute in India?

What is the fee for a forex trading institute in India?

Is it legal to learn and trade forex in India?

Can a forex trading institute guarantee profits?

How long does it take to learn forex trading at an institute?

A forex trading institute exists to teach you a skill: reading price, planning a trade, sizing it properly and managing the loss when you are wrong. That is it. It is not there to hand you daily buy and sell calls, and it is not a place to “earn while you learn”.

A proper syllabus usually covers four areas in this order:

Market basics: currency pairs, lot size, pips, sessions and how Indian exchange-traded currency derivatives work.

Chart reading: trend, structure, support and resistance, demand and supply zones.

Risk management: position sizing, stop loss placement, risk per trade, daily loss limit.

Execution and review: live market practice, journaling and weekly trade reviews with the mentor.

If an institute’s brochure is full of words like “jackpot strategy” or “secret indicator” and has nothing about risk or journaling, you already know enough.

Step 1: Check the Mentor Before the Brochure

The person teaching you matters far more than the building, the logo or the number of certificates on the wall. Ask these questions on the first call:

How long have you traded yourself, and in which markets?

Can you show me a past trade, including a losing one, and explain why you took it?

Do you still trade, or only teach?

Will you personally take my batch, or will a junior trainer?

A good mentor will answer all four without getting defensive. If you only get profit screenshots and “bas join kar lo, sab samajh aa jayega”, treat that as a no.

Step 2: Make Sure the Trading Is Legal in India

This is where many students get trapped without knowing it. For Indian residents, forex trading is permitted only in specific currency pairs on recognised exchanges such as NSE and BSE, through a broker registered with SEBI. The allowed pairs include USD/INR, EUR/INR, GBP/INR and JPY/INR, plus a few cross pairs like EUR/USD, GBP/USD and USD/JPY on those exchanges.

Trading forex on offshore apps with high leverage is not allowed under FEMA. The Reserve Bank of India maintains an Alert List of unauthorised forex platforms, and you can confirm whether a broker is registered on the SEBI website. If a forex trading institute asks you to open an account on a foreign app or pay a “broker partner” through UPI, stop right there. No amount of good teaching makes that safe.

Step 3: Ask for the Full Syllabus and Batch Plan

Ask for the module list on WhatsApp or email, not just a verbal promise. Look for three things:

A clear order of topics, from basics to live practice.

How many hours of live teaching, not just recorded videos.

A demo trading phase of at least six weeks before real money.

If you want a reference point, our forex trading course roadmap for beginners shows how a beginner syllabus is usually laid out week by week.

Step 4: Understand the Fees and Refund Policy

Fees for a forex trading institute in India range widely. Price alone does not tell you quality, but the fee structure tells you a lot about honesty.

What to ask

Good answer

Worrying answer

Total fee

One clear number in writing, GST mentioned

“Aaj join karo to discount, kal se double”

What is included

Live classes, doubt sessions, recordings, support period

“Sab kuch milega” with no details

Refund policy

Written, with clear conditions

No policy, or “no refunds ever”

Extra charges

None, or listed upfront

Paid “advanced level” pushed after joining

Access after course

Recordings and doubt support for a fixed period

Access ends the day the course ends

Always pay to the institute’s registered business account and take a proper receipt. Never pay a trainer’s personal UPI because “office account mein issue hai”.

Step 5: Attend a Demo Class Before Paying

Any serious institute will let you sit in a free demo or trial class. Use it to watch how the trainer teaches, not just what they say. Notice whether they explain why a trade is taken, whether they mention the stop loss before the target, and how they handle questions from beginners.

If you are in Delhi NCR, you can book a free demo class at our centre and compare it with others. Visiting two or three places before deciding is completely normal.

Step 6: Talk to Past Students Outside the Website

Testimonials on an institute’s own website are selected. Try to find past students on Instagram, LinkedIn or Google reviews and ask them simple questions: Did the mentor reply after payment? Was the syllabus the same as promised? Would you join again?

Read the 2 and 3 star Google reviews carefully. They are often more honest than the 5 star ones.

Step 7: Score the Institute Before You Decide

After the call and demo class, give each forex trading institute a quick score out of 2 for each point below. Anything under 10 out of 16 is a risky choice.

Point

0 = No

1 = Partly

2 = Yes

Mentor trades and shows real reasoning

Teaches only legal, SEBI-regulated forex

Written syllabus with demo phase

Regular live doubt sessions

Clear written fees and refund policy

Focus on risk management, not profit promises

Real reviews from past students

Support after course ends

This one table has saved a few of my students’ friends from expensive mistakes. Print it or keep a screenshot when you visit.

Red Flags That Mean Walk Away

Promises of fixed monthly returns or “90% accuracy”.

Pressure to pay the same day.

Asking you to trade on foreign forex apps.

Selling signals or a paid Telegram group alongside the course.

No physical address, GST number or named mentor.

Asking you to give them your trading account login to “manage” it.

Even one of these is enough reason to look elsewhere.

Online or Offline: Does It Change the Checklist?

Not much. The same seven steps apply. Online programmes need one more check: make sure live sessions actually happen on schedule. I wrote a separate guide on choosing a forex school online if you are leaning that way. If you prefer a classroom and you live in West Delhi, our article on the trading institute near Uttam Nagar explains what to look for locally.

What Happens After You Join the Right Institute

Joining a good forex trading institute does not make you profitable in a month. Here is what a normal first six months looks like for our students:

Month 1: basics, chart reading and risk rules, all on demo.

Month 2 to 3: demo trading with a journal, weekly reviews with the mentor.

Month 4 to 6: very small live trades on a SEBI-registered broker, with the same rules.

If someone tells you that you will “replace your salary” in 60 days, compare that with this timeline and decide for yourself. For more on comparing brands and programmes, read our guide to the best forex academy in India.

Advanced Chart Concepts: SMC, ICT and Liquidity

Currency pairs like USD/INR and EUR/USD respect liquidity and order flow just like stocks. Once the basics are in place, our forex students also learn:

Support and resistance and demand and supply zones as the base

Liquidity: equal highs and lows, stop loss clusters and liquidity sweeps

Smart Money Concepts (SMC): break of structure (BOS), change of character (CHoCH), order blocks and fair value gaps

ICT ideas: premium and discount areas and session timing

RSI divergence as confirmation at key zones, never as a standalone signal

These ideas are added in a fixed order so they sharpen your reading instead of cluttering the chart.
